Innovative pet product company Sleepypod, based in Pasadena, has introduced the Martingale Calming Harness designed for both dogs and cats.
This two-in-one harness, a company statement said, is intended to provide relief from anxiety and serve as a walking harness. It employs a breathable mesh design that envelops the pet’s body, creating a calming sensation akin to a reassuring hug, which can help alleviate fear and anxiety, the statement continued.
“Separation, illness, loud noises, and even visits to unfamiliar places are just some of the possible triggers of fear in pets,” Michael Leung, lead product designer and co-founder of Sleepypod, said. “Sleepypod’s new Martingale Calming Harness applies gentle pressure around a pet’s body, creating a hugging sensation to soothe anxiety.”
What sets the product apart is its unique martingale feature, which allows for control of the pet when used as a walking harness while simultaneously preventing escape. Much like the martingale collar design preferred by dog trainers, the martingale strap will gently tighten around the pet’s torso when tension is applied to the D-ring.
“Familiar items with familiar scents can additionally help reduce stress,” Leung added. “Using the Martingale Calming Harness for walking before using it to reduce anxiety will create familiarity.”
