“Pie Dance” Offered for Sierra Madre Playhouse’s Off the Shelf Monday Program

STAFF REPORT
Published on Apr 23, 2021

Sierra Madre Playhouse (SMP) will present a premiere of “Pie Dance,” by Molly Giles, on its Off the Shelf: Stories Out Loud series on Monday, April 26, accessible on the theater’s YouTube, Instagram and Facebook channels starting at 10:00 a.m.

Off the Shelf: Short Stories Out Loud presents a full-cast, audio-only short story offering via real-time premiere every fourth Monday of the month.

In “Pie Dance,” a husband’s current, much younger wife keeps showing up unannounced and for no particular reason at the porch of the ex-wife’s house. The current wife never comes inside and the ex-wife never leaves the doorway, but the two make small talk on the porch.

This short story offering, as well as all of Sierra Madre Playhouse’s other offerings, are available online permanently after their real-time premieres, with a new release every month. Eventually, Sierra Madre Playhouse will add the ability to listen to them as podcasts.

For now, they will be on the theater’s YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook channels.

All of SMP’s Off the Shelf offerings are free and available to watch anytime. Donations, however, to support production costs are greatly appreciated.

Off the Shelf also occasionally offers an online Poetry Out Loud presentation. For more information, visit www.sierramadreplayhouse.org/thebookshelf.php.
