Plans Underway for New Restaurant at Brantwood Residences

Published on Jul 28, 2021

Mill Creek Development recently partnered with Preen Inc. to design the featured restaurant and café space in its Brantwood Residences, a luxury apartment community for active older adults located in Pasadena’s popular Playhouse Village district.

The approx. 7,000 square foot space located at the corner of Union Street and Oakland Avenue will serve both Brantwood residents and the community, and will potentially include a smaller café or coffee bar and “grab and go” offerings.

“We know from our research that one of the most challenging things for adults as they age is to get good, quality meals every day. Our desire is to add a vibrant dining experience that not only serves the active adults living at Brantwood, but is a place for the whole community to gather and enjoy,” said Kenneth McCormick, Founder of Mill Creek. “Our partnership with Preen Inc. demonstrates our commitment to fulfill our vision for this space. They understood immediately how important it was to anchor our space with the best that California dining offers.”

Founded in 2005, Preen is an award-winning international architecture and interiors firm specializing in hospitality design. The firm was named the 2020 Interior Design Firm of the year by World Interior News and has won multiple design awards for individual restaurant spaces, including Tesse, Howlin’ Ray’s, and The Heroic.

“When we first met with Ken, we could immediately feel his passion for both the Playhouse Village and this restaurant space,” said Alexis Readinger, Founder of Preen.  “Our work focuses on bringing warmth and beauty to a space and we can’t wait to transform Ken’s vision into a reality.”

Brantwood will offer 55 apartments in a private club-like setting for active adults age 55+. Built in the Italian-palazzo style, Brantwood’s six floors will have tasteful one- and two- bedroom apartments with views of the mountains and City Hall, anchored by a quiet courtyard and a large lobby for lounging, dining and events. The community programming will be tailored for those with a love for lifelong learning, with curated experiences at local art destinations including the Pasadena Playhouse, The Huntington and the Norton Simon.

Brantwood is currently under construction, with plans to open in late 2022. For more information on Brantwood, visit www.brantwood.com. Additional information on Preen Inc. is available at www.preeninc.com.
