The Pasadena Education Network (PEN) hosted its 12th Annual Wine & Spirits Tasting on Sunday, May 1, at the Shakespeare Club, from 5 – 8 p.m. The event included a variety of wines donated by WineInsiders.com, premium spirits sponsored by Cocktail Cadre, with food provided by Paella Project and Nothing Bundt Cake. Music was provided by the Pasadena High School Jazz Band.
PEN is a network of more than 2,000 parents who support and send their children to Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) schools. The grassroots nonprofit promotes family participation in public education in Pasadena, Altadena and Sierra Madre, and believes that parent and community involvement are essential to building strong schools for all students. Annually, PEN recognizes parent and community leaders who represent the type of involvement for which they advocate. This year, three outstanding volunteers were honored: PUSD parents Jennifer Higginbotham, Leigh Ann Samuel and Dominick Correy. PEN also recognized Connie De La Torre with the PEN Founders Award for her commitment to PUSD’s families and students.
