Rediscover the Langham Huntington Hotel: A Place for Life’s Celebrations

Over the holidays I had the opportunity to rediscover something that has been in our backyard all along, the Langham Huntington Hotel. Yes, I’ve been to the Langham many times for galas and parties, but I’m talking about the personal events that bring us happiness. The small family get-togethers, triumphs and just-because that enrich our lives.

My first celebration was a celebration of me. I had the most wonderful holiday facial in the Chuan Spa. I loved the name of the treatment: Merry and Bright. It was a stimulating facial that incorporated a potent pumpkin peel to address textured skin, fine lines, and wrinkles with an instantly cooling cranberry-pomegranate mask and cryo-sculpting treatment. When I was finished being pampered, I did feel Merry and Bright and I smelled good too!

The second celebration was a celebration of family. My daughter came home for eight days over the holidays and I wanted to have a family evening before Christmas. It was off to the Langham for an evening of holiday lights, decor, libations and food for us.

First of all, if you have never been or not been recently, to the Langham over the holidays, it really is magical. Trees of all shapes, sizes and types are placed throughout the space with lights ablaze.

The front portico was resplendent in red and green with white lights adorning every nook and cranny. Poinsettias, sparkling trees and decorations dotted the grounds. It was lovely.

We were headed to the Tap Room for drinks and appetizers before our dinner reservation at The Terrace. We grabbed a place on the patio overlooking one of the many gardens that cover the grounds. A brightly-lit tree and spectacular view finished the festive feel. We enjoyed drinks and nibbles while relishing our cozy corner. Festive music played in the background and the surroundings were packed with happy families, celebrating friends and cozy couples.

Our time at the Tap Room flew by and soon it was time for our dinner reservations at The Terrace. We sat on the patio (because it’s California and we could), which was nice and warm with heaters scattered around. We had a great view of the pool and those brave souls that still were out swimming (mostly kids who seem never to get cold even if their lips are turning blue!). Our server was attentive without being obsequious and the food was fresh and delicious. It really was the most wonderful evening. Everything was so beautiful and relaxed. I really felt as if we were on holiday.

With Valentine’s Day coming up The Langham Huntington Hotel has some special things in mind. Both The Terrace and Royce restaurants have special fixed menus for Valentine’s Day. The Terrace has a four course, pre-fixe choice of menu, plus amuse bouche and the Royce Steakhouse has a five course, pre-fixe menu. You can view the menus here.

The Chuan Spa has an assortment of treatments for just you or you and your partner. From salt scrubs, to massages for two or a collagen lip mask, there’s something for everyone. You can view the menu of treatments here.

I know that when my next special day or celebration comes along, The Langham Huntington Hotel will be high on my list of places to spend those special moments that make life wonderful.

The Langham Huntington Hotel is located at 1401 South Oak Knoll Avenue, Pasadena. For more information or reservations call (626) 568-3900 or visit www.langhamhotels.com/en/the-langham/los-angeles/.
