Rose Bowl Aquatics Center’s Second Sustainer Celebration, Mayor Gordo Expresses Gratitude

Published on Oct 19, 2023

The Rose Bowl Aquatics Center (RBAC) marked a significant milestone on Thursday, October 5, as it hosted its second Sustainer Celebration at NOOR in Pasadena. The event was attended by Pasadena’s esteemed Mayor, Victor Gordo, who took the opportunity to express his heartfelt gratitude to the generous donors, loyal sustainers, and dedicated staff, all on behalf of the City of Pasadena.

Launched in April 2023, the RBAC Sustainer Program has managed to cultivate a devoted community of supporters. Their contributions play a pivotal role in ensuring that RBAC continues to thrive as a vital and secure haven within the community. Sustainers receive limited-edition branded merchandise and special invitations to private events, like the Noor event.

Established in 1990, RBAC, a non-profit organization, is committed to water safety and promoting health, wellness, and love for aquatic activities. The profound influence of RBAC stretches far beyond its aquatic programs, serving as a vital community resource that has touched the lives of thousands of children, youth, families, and seniors over the years.

RBAC’s commitment to water safety is exemplified by its partnership with the Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD), where the center hosts the Water Safety Program. This program offers an incredible opportunity for every PUSD third grader to receive 15 swim lessons, all provided at no cost to their families. In doing so, RBAC not only nurtures a culture of safety but also creates an inclusive environment that fosters aquatic confidence and skills in the younger generation.

Sustainer programs, such as the one at RBAC, are of paramount importance for non-profit organizations. They provide a stable, recurring source of revenue that facilitates better cash flow management, budgeting, and more effective planning. It’s worth noting that individuals belonging to sustainer programs tend to contribute 42% more annually compared to one-time donors. The RBAC Sustainer Celebration event serves as a testament to the center’s unwavering efforts to engage the community and guarantee the continued provision of its invaluable services.

The RBAC continues to make waves, both in the pool and in the hearts of its supporters, as it remains steadfast in its mission to create a thriving, healthy, and vibrant community.
