This past weekend, The Grant in Glassell Park was abuzz with the vibrant spirit of community and generosity as supporters of College Access Plan (CAP) came together for the organization’s spirited annual Spring Fever CAPpy Hour. The atmosphere was charged with enthusiasm and solidarity, echoing the shared commitment of those present to foster educational opportunities for youth in the Pasadena and Hacienda La Puente school districts.

The event, known for its laid-back yet purposeful vibe, saw an array of libations and snacks. The Grant generously provided the libations and Bacchus’ Kitchen the snacks, setting the tone for a convivial evening dedicated to a noble cause. As attendees mingled and enjoyed the offerings, Mo Hyman, the Executive Director of CAP, took to the stage to highlight the significance of the gathering and to acknowledge the collective efforts in supporting the educational aspirations of local students.

A highlight of the evening was the prize giveaway, featuring items from a variety of Southern California’s beloved institutions, including the Rose Parade, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Santa Monica’s Proper Hotel, among others. These prizes not only added an element of excitement to the evening but also underscored the wide-ranging support for CAP’s mission from across the community.

The CAPpy Hour proved to be a successful fundraiser, generating over $5,000 in support of CAP programs. These funds are earmarked to continue and expand the invaluable services CAP offers, which this year will reach 3,000 students and their families. CAP’s programs are designed to equip students with critical college and career knowledge, assist with college and financial aid applications, and provide other essential college preparatory and success support services.

The success of the Spring Fever CAPpy Hour not only reflects the community’s commitment to education but also reinforces the vital role of CAP in paving pathways to higher education for students. Through events like these and the ongoing support of the community, CAP continues to make a significant impact on the lives of students, empowering them to achieve their college and career aspirations.
