Succulents and Dahlias in Floral Design

Published on Sep 24, 2021

The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens in San Marino is offering flower-arranging hobbyists a chance to explore the history of succulents and dahlias – the national flower of Mexico – in a hands-on flower-arranging class, with Flower Duet, on Saturday, September 25.

The class, Flower Arranging: Succulents and Dahlias in Floral Design, begins at 10 a.m.

This in-person class, with a variety of virtual options as well, takes inspiration from The Huntington’s Desert Garden and the botanical print collection of Henry Charles Andrews.

Participants will design a vase bouquet combining these stunning specimens from The Huntington. The in-person classes will be held outdoors at The Huntington with space between each workstation to allow for social distancing. Each workstation will be set up so that participants need not share any tools or supplies between them.

The morning in-person session is for adults, and an afternoon family-friendly class is also available.

For the virtual class, morning or afternoon options are available, and you may opt to pick up supplies from The Huntington or take the virtual class only, with your own supplies.

While this event is outdoors, participants are required to wear a mask for the duration of the program regardless of vaccination status. At the same time, due to COVID-19 safety protocols, class capacity is limited and there will be no waitlist for this program.

Participants are advised to bring a hat and water.
