Summer Comes Alive: Free Concerts and Movies Transform Loma Alta Park

Published on Aug 20, 2025

This August and September, Los Angeles County is turning 34 public parks into vibrant stages of community celebration, offering residents a summer of free entertainment that promises to bring neighborhoods together under the stars.

The County of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation, partnering with the County Probation Department, is breathing life into local green spaces with an eclectic lineup of live music and movie screenings that span genres and generations. From the rhythmic beats of Suave to the dynamic moves of Shero K-Pop Dance, and from family favorites like “The Wild Robot” to classic films such as “The Sandlot,” these events are designed to create lasting memories for all ages.

Take Loma Alta Park in Altadena as a perfect example. On August 21, families can gather from 6 to 8 pm to watch “The Wild Robot,” and on August 28, the park will come alive with music as Susie Hansen takes the stage from 6 to 9 pm. Located at 3330 N. Lincoln Ave., the park represents the heart of this community-driven initiative.

“These events are more than just entertainment,” said park officials. “They’re about creating welcoming spaces that encourage social interaction, celebrate local culture, and bring neighbors together in shared experiences.”

With performances ranging from local artists like Emery Beckles and Cheryl Jackson to the Island Passion Band, and movie screenings that include “A Minecraft Movie,” “The Little Mermaid,” and “Wicked,” there’s something for everyone. The best part? Every event is completely free, making summer entertainment accessible to all Los Angeles County residents.

For more information about specific park locations and event schedules, residents can contact their local park directly or visit the Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation website.
