The Pasadena Senior Center is sponsoring a virtual lecture on Wednesday, Nov. 18, regarding Medicare and the importance of coverage, as the deadline for the open enrollment period nears.

Medicare’s annual enrollment period began on Oct. 15 and will end Dec. 7.

The presentation on Wednesday will cover a Medicare overview and Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage. With volunteer counselors from the state’s Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP), the webinar will provide free and objective information and counseling about Medicare to help you understand your specific rights and health care options.

HICAP offers free educational presentations to groups of Medicare beneficiaries and their families, as well as providers, on a variety of Medicare and other health insurance-related topics.

You may also call the Pasadena Senior Center at (626) 795-4331, or email info@pasadenaseniorcenter.org.

In addition to group webinars, the Pasadena Senior Center is also recommending that Medicare beneficiaries get in touch with the Center for Health Care Rights (CHCR), a nonprofit health care advocacy organization, which is adapting its Volunteer Counselor Program to counseling remotely, by telephone or via Zoom.

For an appointment, call (800) 824-0780, ext. 3006, and ask for Sandy Risdon.
