Pasadena’s newest studio Archetype Yoga is offering students a brilliant opportunity to practice with a Katonah Yoga veteran, Abbie Galvin, this Wednesday.

She practiced alongside its founder, Nevine Michaan for over 30 years.

“Abbie really commands the material, the theory, and truly embodies it,” Archetype Yoga owner Sara Blumenkranz said in an interview this week. “we’re getting a special treat to be able to learn from such an impactful teacher, she is truly a master of her craft.”

“It’s definitely exciting to have the opportunity to practice Katonah Yoga in Pasadena,” she added, “We are the very first studio in the San Gabriel Valley to offer Katonah Yoga.”

Practitioners can expect to have a really vigorous practice with lots of hands-on adjustments, said Blumenkranz. The master class will also be followed by a foot reading, which, added Blumenkranz, “is something that’s really unique to Katonah Yoga and it’s the way that we start a private session.”

Blumenkranz explained, “we use, ‘the magic square,’ to learn about an individual’s posture and patterns. And Abbie has the most amazing eye to really see the smallest details, it’s truly magical.”

“Abbie is a teacher’s teacher. She has such breadth to her words and elaborates on the foundations of Katonah Yoga, like measuring up, finding geometry and using our imagination in ways that traditional yoga doesn’t always connect with or offer.”

Galvin owns her own studio in New York where she has created a hub for practice and training sessions and according to Blumenkranz, Katonah Yoga is catching fire across the US and internationally.

“Not only are we getting the opportunity to practice Katonah Yoga in Pasadena, but we’re really getting to learn from the best Katonah Yoga teachers.”

“We’re really grateful and excited to have her, because learning from somebody who has been a practitioner and part of the community for so long, they really capture the material and offer students endless pathways to learn and enhance their practice. A master class not to be missed!”

Archetype Yoga is at 638 East Colorado Boulevard, Pasadena. (626) 345-5676. www.Archetype.yoga. The event will run 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Cost is $30.
