“The Potter Daniels Manor is an exceptional piece of Pasadena history,” noted Dotty Ewing, benefit chair of the Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts, a non-profit organization behind one of the nation’s most successful home and garden tours. “The century-old estate has been a featured Showcase House before, once in 1975 and more recently in 1996. We’re extremely excited to unveil this latest incarnation of design nearly three decades later when we open the doors to the public on April 21.”

The stately manor, which sits behind a pair of ornate iron gates, was built in 1902 and underwent a major transformation just two decades later when the Postle Company of Los Angeles, builders of the iconic Pasadena Playhouse, reimagined the manor from a turn-of-the-century shingle-style abode to a grand English Tudor Revival Style mansion. The home has earned Pasadena City Landmark status and has been the setting for a number of Hollywood blockbusters, including Foul Play, Bachelor Party, Eleanor and Franklin and The Christmas Box with small screen credits that include Falcon’s Crest, Remington Steele, Quantum Leap and McCloud.

During the next two and a half months, a selected group of professional interior and exterior designers will combine their talents and craftsmanship that will transform the manor’s 30 indoor and outdoor spaces into jaw-dropping showpieces. More than 25,000 guests are expected to tour the manor and its gardens during the monthlong event. Guests enjoy the famous Shops at Showcase which includes a collection of boutique and artisan merchants. There is also a selection of eateries to enjoy, from our full-service restaurant, Silver Queen Café to grab and go convenience items. Beer, wine and cocktails are also available on the premises. Throughout the month, select days will feature local musicians, docent-led garden tours, signature brunches and more.

The Pasadena Showcase House of Design is the primary fundraising benefit for Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts, an all-volunteer nonprofit organization founded in 1948. During the 2022-23 program year, the 75-year-old organization donated over $900,000 to 75 nonprofit organizations providing music and arts programs. Since its inception, the Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts has contributed more than $25 million to organizations that align with its mission.
