With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, some may be struggling to figure out what to do for the special day.
The Huntington Library has a solution and is inviting everyone to join them for a virtual course of flower arrangements, a perfect activity and hobby for couples and families, on Saturday, Feb.13.
This one-hour class, “Flower Arranging: Love in Bloom,” live on Zoom, will be led by Flower Duet, a Torrance-based floral design studio, and will take inspiration from depictions of love in The Huntington’s collections.
In the workshop, participants will be making two flower arrangements, one to keep and one to give.
The first, “Love Yourself,” will feature pink and white flowers, representing innocence and purity of heart.
“Give Love” will have mostly red and purple flowers, for passion, undying love, and love at first sight.
The class is recommended for all ages and could be a fun family project.
Participants can choose from two registration options: they can either purchase the Virtual Course plus Materials, which includes a pre-recorded lesson with lecture and demonstration, supplies and materials for pickup at The Huntington, followed by a live Zoom event at 5 p.m.; or the Virtual Course only, which includes the pre-recorded lesson, an online supply list for each participant to refer to, and the live Zoom follow-up at 5 p.m.
The Zoom hour for both options does not include additional instruction but is an opportunity to share with fellow classmates what you made or ask questions of Flower Duet.
The Virtual Course plus Materials is $80 for Huntington members and $85 for non-members. The Virtual Course only option is $45 for members and $55 for non-members. In both options, participants are advised to get hold of their supplies before accessing the pre-recorded lesson and demo and the live Zoom.
The Huntington and Flower Duet will send information to participants regarding video links and material pickup after they register. Check your junk or spam folders if you do not receive a confirmation email upon registration.
