On June 17, 2023, The Pasadena Guild of Children’s Hospital presented 24 local young women, including 1 honored in absentia at the 61st June Ball.

The Langham Huntington Hotel was the setting for this beautiful annual event. More than 440 invited guests celebrated with the Debutantes and their families in the lovely ballroom decorated with stunning flowers by Jacob Maarse Florist and a profusion of candles, creating a magical and elegant decor.

Debutantes from Pasadena, San Marino, Sierra Madre, Toluca Lake, La Canada, and South Pasadena were presented to family and friends.

Pasadena Guild of Children’s Hospital President, Rita Bristol, and Ball co-chairwomen, Debra Whitehouse, and Pana Gelt, greeted guests at a reception before the Debutante Presentation. The Program began with welcome remarks by Mrs. Bristol, CHLA President and CEO Paul Viviano, and Dr. Robert E. Shaddy, current holder of the endowed Pasadena Guild Chair, Pediatrician-in-Chief and Senior Vice President, Academic Affairs at CHLA.

Master of Ceremonies, Aaron Weiss, presented each Debutante as she appeared center stage. After the presentation, an evening of dining and dancing followed. The ever-popular VIPs Entertainment featuring Uptown Live Band kept Debutantes and their guests on the dance floor until late into the evening.

Proceeds from the evening will continue to benefit Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. Established in 1947, the Pasadena Guild raises funds for Children’s Hospital’s research, education, and patient services programs. The Guild has raised over $43 million dollars, successfully completing nine Guild Endowments and two capital campaign projects. The Guild announced its completion of its most recent project, The Pasadena Guild, Pediatrician in Chief and Senior Vice President, Academic Affairs, held by Dr. Robert E. Shaddy. Dr. Shaddy led the largest clinical trial on children with heart failure. The Guild continues its founding mission of raising funds to endow primary leadership and research in Pediatric Care at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
