What We’re Watching: ‘Wonka’ Still Leads Box Office With $14.4 Million Weekend

“Wonka” kept its hold on the top spot at the box office in its fourth weekend at North American theaters, taking in another $14.4 million in a relatively slow weekend overall, according to industry estimates released Sunday.

The horror film “Night Swim,” produced by Jason Blum and James Wan, opened in second place with $12 million, Comscore reported.

“Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” was third $10.6 million Friday through Sunday in its third weekend in theaters.

Fourth place went to the animated film “Migration” with $10.2 million in its third week, followed by “Anyone But You” with $9.5 million in its third weekend.

Rounding out the top 10 domestic releases were “The Boys in the Boat” ($6 million), “The Color Purple” ($4.7 million), “The Iron Claw” ($4.5 million), “Ferarri” ($2.5 million) and “Poor Things” ($2 million).

This weekend’s overall three-day box office haul was estimated at $87.3 million. The year-to-date total is $172.8 million — down 8% from the figure at this time last year, according to Comscore.
