February is National Pet Dental Health Month and Pasadena Humane wants to make sure your pet’s teeth are nice and healthy.

According to the American Veterinary Dental Society, 70% of cats and 8u0% of dogs will suffer some form of oral disease by the age of 3. That’s why National Pet Dental Health Month is so important.

Join the organization at noon Thursday, Feb. 11, for a one-hour online webinar that will talk about dental diseases and prevention.

During the webinar, Dr. James Speas, medical director at the Crescenta Cañada Pet Hospital, will lead the discussion into what kind of diseases could affect your pet’s teeth and how you, as the owner, can help prevent them.

Speas has a variety of interests in veterinary medicine, with a special interest in surgery and the challenges of internal medicine cases in animals. Born and raised in Casper, Wyoming, Speas comes from a family of longtime ranchers and has seen the challenges and experienced the satisfaction of practicing medicine. For him, a career as a veterinarian was a logical choice.

He graduated from Colorado State University in 1984. His first veterinary experience was in a mixed large and small animal practice in Salida, Colorado. After that, he practiced in several small animal and mixed practices in Wyoming and Colorado.

Speas also enjoys seeing unique and exotic cases, such as pocket pets and reptiles. He’s very proud of the quality of service his team at Crescenta Cañada Pet Hospital provides. He is constantly looking to enhance the quality of life of pets and pet owners.
