The Langham Huntington, Pasadena is the first luxury hotel on the west coast of the U.S. to achieve the coveted EarthCheck Gold Certification. Gold Certification recognizes five consecutive years of commitment to environmental and social sustainability.

The EarthCheck Program is widely regarded as the world’s most scientifically rigorous and provides a framework, which includes requirements specific to management systems, such as quality, environment, occupational health and safety, risk management, heritage and corporate social responsibility.

Mr. Stewart Moore, CEO and founder of EarthCheck, said that The Langham Huntington continues to be a significant leader in sustainability within California.

Mr. Moore said, “The Langham Huntington is the first luxury hotel in California to achieve this highly sought after recognition. In doing so, it is measuring its performance against best practices and making positive changes to reduce its environmental footprint and improve its social impact.”

The majority of Langham Hospitality Group’s portfolio is currently recognized by EarthCheck. Langham Hotels and Resorts in Auckland, Boston, London, and Mongkok are Gold Certified, while hotels in Hong Kong, Melbourne and Xintiandi are Silver Certified and Toronto and Beijing have Benchmarked Bronze status.

“It is with great pleasure we accept our EarthCheck Gold Certification,” said Alice Cablayan, Green Team Champion and Sustainability Coordinator at The Langham Huntington, Pasadena. “This is a direct result of the commitment of our staff, visitors and key stakeholders to reduce, reuse and recycle, and to push the hotel and ourselves to be the best in the field.”

Sustainability is a way of life for Langham Hospitality Group. Through their CONNECT program, Langham aims to strike a balance between continuous business development, environmental protection, and fostering employee relationships and community welfare.

Mr. Moore added, “The Langham Huntington understands that to achieve this recognition, all levels of the organization had to come together. Green team members, like Alice Cablayan, have helped realize the connection between the hotel’s environmental impact and collective responsibility to contribute to the sustainable development of the Pasadena community.”
