The 43rd Annual Pasadena Mayor’s Interfaith Prayer Breakfast, “Community Service: Soul of the City” presented by Friends In Deed, will grace the Pasadena Convention Center on Thursday to highlight many of the city’s faith-based communities and their efforts in homelessness prevention.

The breakfast is the first interfaith breakfast in Mayor Tornek’s term and it will feature many of the city’s religious figures and non-profit organizations, including a keynote address by Chief Executive Officer of Union Station Homeless Services, Rabbi Marvin Gross and hosted by KTLA News Reporter Manny Medrano.

In conjunction with National Prayer Day, the breakfast aims to support community service at all of its various levels with a specific angle of addressing the efforts that are going into homelessness prevention in Pasadena.

“This breakfast is a positive expression of community and it will be uplifting. It’s a great way for so many community activists and leaders to come together,” said Rabbi Marvin Gross, who has been been the CEO of Union Station Homeless Services for 21 years.

According to Friends In Deed Executive Director, Reverend Dr. Donna Byrns, “The breakfast represents the states and cultures that pasadena is so rich with. It’s a coming together in support of our community and the fact that we are all working together for the common good.”

“Community Service: Soul of the City” is a valuable gathering that allows for all facets of city personnel, including the youth, to contribute and appreciate to Pasadena’s civic engagements. There will be choir performances by LA School Choir and PUSD’s Vox Vita, as well as all table centerpieces being created and donated by PUSD art students.

Diversity and compassion will be the common thread amongst guests, in which they will be able to engage in an interfaith closing prayer at the conclusion of the breakfast in the name of homelessness prevention and love for the City of Pasadena and the people who make it what it is.

“My hope is that the attendees at the breakfast will come away with a renewed commitment to community service and work together to strengthen our community in all possible ways,” explained Gross.

43rd Annual Pasadena Mayor’s Interfaith Prayer Breakfast will take place Thursday at the Pasadena Convention Center from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. For tickets and information, visit http://www.friendsindeedpas.org or call 626-797-2402.
