Firefighter Injured as Crews Extinguish Garage Blaze in Northwest Pasadena

A detached garage fire in the 1700 block of Newport Avenue in Northwest Pasadena on Monday after caused $80,000 in total damage and caused the injury of a Pasadena firefighter.

Pasadena Fire Chief Bertral Washington was at the scene and assumed control of the response.

The 3:54 p.m. blaze erupted at the rear of a residence. The fire was brought under control quickly and prevented from spreading, authorities said.

An arson investigator 3 was requested and determined the cause to be accidental. The firefighter sustained minor injuries and treated at the scene.
