Growing Families Presents “Teaching Kids About Money”

Growing Families invites you to join them on Sunday, February 9, at 9:30 a.m. in Fellowship Hall at the La Canada Presbyterian Church, for a presentation by teacher and author Patricia Garfield who will share her experience of working with parents and children to increase financial literacy. Learn about ideas for conversations and hands-on activities to make the process meaningful and fun for both parents and children. Topics will include banking fundamentals, budgeting, career planning and charitable giving.

Patricia Garfield has 15 years of corporate business experience and has been teaching personal finance, economics and other business-related courses to teenagers for 12 years. Garfield co-authored Time Worth $pending: The Top 10 Talks to Have With Your Teenager About Money.

In addition to her California State teaching credential, Garfield holds a BS in Business Administration from the University of Colorado and an MBA from Pepperdine University. She lives in La Canada with her husband and two children, ages 17 & 21, and has been a member of LCPC since 1998.

Growing Families is a monthly seminar type class at the La Canada Presbyterian Church for parents and grandparents led by a variety of people; some are experts in the field of child development, psychology, and education while others are parents who offer to others what has worked for their families.
