A preliminary hearing today is scheduled for Albert Ahmad Clark, who is charged with the February 1988 shooting death of a man in Pasadena.
The preliminary hearing is scheduled in Dept. J of the Pasadena Courthouse, 300 E. Walnut.
Clark is accused of shooting multiple times Leroy Galloway on Feb. 27, 1988 near Lake Avenue and Orange Grove Boulevard. Galloway later died at an area hospital.
Witnesses said they saw a suspect fleeing the area, and, based in part on the descriptions they provided, investigators eventually arrested Clark, who was then released due to insufficient evidence.
Due to the limitations of forensic science at the time, there was insufficient evidence to prosecute Albert Clark for homicide and he was released without any charges in February of 1989, according to a police statement.
Galloways relatives approached police in 2013 and asked them to review the case. Investigators were able to retrieve evidence that was analyzed and that allegedly implicates Clark in the killing, police said.
An extensive examination of the case file by Pasadena police homicide detectives identified items of evidence that were suitable for modern forensic analysis. The ultimate test results by the Los Angeles County Crime Lab implicated Albert Clark in the crime, according the police statement.
A U.S. Marshals task force arrested Clark, 53, at his Los Angeles home on suspicion of the Feb. 27, 1988 shooting death of Galloway, Pasadena police said in a written statement. His bail was $2 million bail.
A motive for the shooting attack still remains unclear.
