Sharp shooting across the board propelled the Pasadena City College men’s basketball team to win its third game in the last four contests in an 83-67 victory at Cerritos College Friday night. The Lancers upped their record to 10-12.

The Lancers didn’t shoot often from long range, but finished at a remarkable 70 percent accuracy, sinking 7-for-10 from beyond the circle. Sophomore guard Jonathan Henderson hit four of the treys as part of his team-high 19 points.

At the free throw line, PCC was efficient, making 26-for-36 (72.2 percent). Frosh guard Dejon Williams was 6-for-6 at the stripe, scoring 15 points and dishing out eight assists. Reserve guard Keith Langston also was perfect on his eight free throws, scoring 14 points.

From the floor, the Lancers shot well enough, making 25-for-53 (47.2). Staring guard Demetrius Overstreet hit all three of his FG shots and scored seven points. Forward Jaryn Taylor added 10 points and center Faruk Oyalade added eight points and nine rebounds.

Oyalade, a 6-foot-7 letterman from Nigeria, did all of his scoring as part of a 16-4 Lancers run late in the first half as PCC took a 37-28 halftime lead. Cerritos never threatened in the second half in one of the few easier victories by PCC in a season of close games.

For Cerritos (9-14), Micah Winn led all scorers with 20 points.

PCC next hosts Long Beach City College Wednesday, Feb. 4 on Coaches v. Cancer Night at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium. Tip-off is 5 p.m.
