Pasadena-based Parsons announced that Mary Ann Hopkins, Group President, signed — on behalf of the corporation — a Statement of Support for the Guard and Reserve yesterday. The statement was signed at the corporation’s Washington, D.C., office, in collaboration with the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense office. Ms. Hopkins was joined by Debra Fiori, Senior Vice President, Talent Management; Chuck McGregor, Vice President, Cybersecurity Operations (and a member of the United States Marine Corps Reserve); and other Parsons executives. Tom Bullock, ESGR’s Chief of Employer Outreach also attended the signing ceremony.

This is not Parsons’ first time vowing support of National Guard and Reserve employees. In August 2004, the corporation signed a statement supporting the California Committee for ESGR at its Pasadena corporate headquarters.

“Diversity is one of Parsons’ six core values, and we actively pursue diversity in our workforce composition,” said Hopkins. “We currently have more than 1,000 employees who have served or are currently serving in the United States Armed Forces, including the Guard and Reserve, and we are proud to reaffirm our support of these brave men and women.”

Fiori added, “As evidenced by our being named a Military Friendly® Employer by Victory Media for 4 consecutive years, Parsons is committed to hiring military talent because of their strong work ethic, technical skills, and real-world experience.”

By signing ESGR’s Statement of Support, Parsons has joined other employers in pledging:

  • We fully recognize, honor, and comply with the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act.
  • Our managers and supervisors will have the tools they need to effectively manage those employees who serve in the Guard and Reserve.
  • We appreciate the values, leadership, and unique skills servicemembers bring to the workforce and will encourage opportunities to hire Guardsmen, Reservists, and Veterans.
  • We will continually recognize and support our country’s servicemembers and their families in peace, in crises, and in war.

“Today supportive employers are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units. The Statement of Support program is the cornerstone of ESGR’s efforts to gain and maintain employer support. The intent of this program is to increase employer support by encouraging participating employers to act as advocates for employee participation in the military,” said Bullock.

“By meeting the Statement of Support criteria, Parsons will stand proudly with their Guard and Reserve employees who continue to answer our nation’s call to defend our way of life. Their personal sacrifices are essential to the strength of our nation,” added Bullock.

Parsons has exciting and challenging projects all over the world for engineers, technical specialists, and other professionals. Job seekers are encouraged to apply at www.parsons.com/careers.
