Published on Friday, August 28, 2015 | 5:29 pm

The Dodgers continued their convenient current winning streak, defeating the tough Chicago Cubs 4-1 tonight at Dodger Stadium behind the pitching of ace Clayton Kershaw. The game is the first of a five-game home stand, with the Giants coming to town on Monday for two games.

Kershaw fanned a a total of 14 batters, tying his best effort so far this season. It’s his 11th win of the season and he leads the Majors with 236 strikeouts and has recorded 10 or more strikeouts in 11 efforts this season.

“I dont think about records and those kinds of things,” he said after the game, shrugging off his achievements, saying, “Just as long as we win, Im happy.”

Newish Dodger Chase Utley filled out his uniform well in his first home game as a Dodger, banging out a triple in the third inning, and hustling home after a throw to third from Moreno went wide of the mark in the sixth. The Dodgers incidentally scored two twice on two wild pitches in a busy sixth inning in which the Dodgers scored three runs.

Anthony Rizzo scored the only run for the Cubs with a fourth inning homer to deep, deep center.

Meanwhile, legendary Dodger Announcer Vin Scully “announced”  that he would return for yet another season in 2016.

Here’s how we blogged it tonight:

The Cubbies are in town to face the Dodgers tonight in the first game of a three-game series. The Blue will send ace Clayton Kershaw to the mound tonight against Jason Hammell.
