Pasadena Police Chief Recaps Week’s Critical Incidents

On June 28 at about 11:00 p.m., Pasadena Police officers responded to the 800 block of Madison Avenue regarding a property damage investigation. On arrival, officers talked with the victim who said he was confronted by several Male Hispanics (possibility gang members) in front of his residence. The suspects threatened the victim, yelled gang slogans, and proceeded to vandalize the victim’s parked car.

On June 29 at about 1:20 a.m., Pasadena Police officers responded to the 70 block of San Rafael Avenue regarding a residential burglary investigation. On arrival, officers learned that the victim was asleep when she heard intruders near her kitchen window. The victim frightened the suspects, who then fled. Our investigation determined the suspects had removed a small pane of glass on the kitchen door. Our investigation is ongoing.

On June 29 at about 6:58 a.m., Pasadena Police officers responded to the 2000 block of Los Robles Avenue regarding a subject down on the sidewalk. On arrival, officers located an unresponsive Male approximately 57 years old. PFD responded to the incident and later pronounced the victim dead. Later in the investigation, the officers determined the victim was suffering from ill-health and lived in Altadena. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office took custody of the victim’s body. Our investigation is ongoing.

On June 30 at about 1:00 p.m., Pasadena Police officers responded to the 1300 block of North Raymond Avenue regarding an attempted murder investigation. On arrival, officers learned that the victim (Female Hispanic) was involved in a verbal argument with the suspect (Male Hispanic). When the victim attempted to retire for the evening, the suspect attempted to throw her out the 2nd story bedroom window. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident and transported to the Pasadena jail.

On July 3 at about 4:31 p.m., Pasadena Police officers responded to the 3000 block of Newhaven Road regarding a suicide investigation. The officers learned that the victim was despondent and shot himself. The victim was discovered by family members who notified the police. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office responded to assist with the investigation. There were no signs of foul play.

On July 4 at about 10:00 p.m., Pasadena Police officers responded to the 600 block of North Marengo Avenue regarding shots fired. On arrival, officers located the victim, a Male Hispanic, approximately 18 years old, and a known gang member, suffering from a gunshot wound. During their preliminary investigation, officers learned that the victim was confronted by Male Black suspects on North Marengo Avenue. Shots were subsequently fired and the victim was struck. PFD responded to the incident and transported to victim to a local hospital with moderate injuries. Our investigation is ongoing.
