A middle-aged woman sustained serious injuries in a pedestrian-vehicle collision Tuesday morning on East Walnut Street in the area of North Fair Oaks Avenue, and remains under close watch in a local hospital.
Pasadena Police Lt. Pete Hettema, Watch Commander, said they haven’t identified the victim but officers are in the hospital to monitor her condition and find out who she is.
“She’s still in the hospital and her condition is pretty serious,” Hettema said. “We don’t even who she is yet. She’s a middle aged female white, appears she could be a transient, but we don’t have any idea yet.”
Hettema said the collision happened midblock between North Fair Oaks Avenue and North Raymond Avenue at about 6:43 a.m.
“She just appeared all of a sudden, and the driver didn’t see her until right before running into her, so it’s traumatic that way,” Hettema added. “It appears that this person dashed across the street mid-block so the driver wouldn’t have had a chance to fully react in anyway at all.”
Hettema said they are waiting for additional reports from officers in the hospital, particularly about the victim’s identity.
Anyone with information about the accident is advised to call the Pasadena Police Department, at (626) 744-4241.
