Pasadena Police officers are investigating a puzzling story that came from a man in his mid-20s who said he was assaulted by two suspects while he was asleep on a park bench two days before he checked into an Emergency Room for treatment.
The local hospital called Pasadena Police at about 7:15 p.m. Sunday to report about the patient, said Pasadena Police Lt. John Mercado.
“We received a call last night from a local area hospital regarding a patient who says he was assaulted Thursday morning,” Mercado said. “The victim told officers that on Thursday, he was asleep on a park bench when he was assaulted by two individuals using a miniature-sized baseball bat. That caused the injury to his eye.”
Mercado said the victim sustained a cut above his left eye, a fractured left eye orbital socket and a small puncture wound to his bottom lip.
The victim described the suspects as simply male Hispanic, who used a baseball bat to assault him.
The incident, Mercado said, reportedly happened in the 100 block of Washington Blvd. in Pasadena. Police are working to get more information.
