A two-man Pasadena Police special robbery apprehension team hit paydirt Sunday about noon when officers saw a wanted strong arm robbery suspect running with a gold chain necklace dangling from his hand, police said.
Moments later, police stopped a gray car they said contained the fleeing suspect on Washington Boulevard near Glen Avenue and, backed by a canine unit and with guns drawn, ordered out the driver and passengers.
Pasadena Police Lt John Mercado said the suspect was thought to be the man who has ripped gold chains from around the necks of female victims, one a young girl, in recent days.
The most recent incident occurred last Thursday at about 3 p.m. on East Washington Boulevard near North Los Robles Avenue, when a 12-year-old girl walking home from school was approached by the suspect. The man ripped a gold necklace off the girl’s neck and ran off, police said.
In Sunday’s traffic stop, police said two men and a woman in the car, including the robbery suspect, were taken into custody without incident.
Captured suspect 18-year-old Tremarie Jackson of Las Vegas was identified in the field after the arrest by two of the recent victims, Mercado said.
Also arrested were others in the car, identified by police as Devante Fox, 21, of Pasadena and Raven Dickson, 19, of Pasadena.
