Police Will Oversee Free Children’s Safety Seat Checkups on Thursday

Car owners in Pasadena can have their safety seats for children checked for free on Thursday, March 2, at an event sponsored by the Pasadena Police Department and Safety Belt Safe USA at the Jackie Robinson Community Center, located at 1081 N. Fair Oaks Avenue.

During the event, experts will evaluate your child’s car seat position and security. As parents receive instructions from English and Spanish speaking instructors, their children can take part in guided activities at the community center.

New parents and soon-to-be parents can also join the event and learn about changes in California law pertaining to safety seats, how they should be used correctly, and why most children need a booster seat until ages 10 to 12.

Safety Belt Safe USA is the national, non-profit organization dedicated solely to child passenger safety. Its mission is to help reduce the number of serious and fatal traffic injuries suffered by children and their families by promoting the correct and consistent use of safety seats and safety belts.

Founded in 1980, Safety Belt Safe USA is nationally recognized for program excellence, training, and up-to-date technical materials. The organization provides consultation to advocates, parents, community and business leaders, the media, and professionals working in the fields of health care, traffic safety, and education.
