Repair crews are working to repair a collapsed sewer line located in a slope easement just west of 1040 Stoneridge Drive in Pasadena, which maintenance crews discovered recently.
Pending approval by the City Council of a construction contract, the Department of Public Works has gone ahead and engaged the services of an Arcadia-based company, Ramona Inc., to perform emergency repair on the broken pipe to maintain public safety.
Ramona was recently the low bidder for the City’s 2015-2016 Sewer Capacity Upgrades project.
Ara Maloyan, Pasadena City Director of Public Works, said the scope of work includes excavating and replacing a portion of the City’s sewer main, backfilling the excavation, and restoring the slope. Constructing started Monday, March 14, 2016, and is expected to be completed within a week.
Maloyan said the contract will be recommended for City Council approval at the Council’s regular meeting on April 11, 2016.
A preliminary estimate of the repair work says it could cost approximately $21,500 which includes a $20,000 construction cost and a $1,500 inspection cost. Funds for the work are included in the appropriations for preventive maintenance on the sewer system under the FY 2011-2016 budget.
