Rain is Likely in Pasadena on Christmas Day

Shoppers and even Saint Nick himself are in for a dousing this week, National Weather Service forecasters said Sunday.

A frontal system brought rain to areas north of Point Conception early this morning, with rain and mountain snow spreading over the entire area by this afternoon. Showers and isolated thunderstorms will follow on Monday.

After a break on Tuesday, another cold storm system will bring rain and snow to the area Wednesday into Thursday.

Peak rainfall rates generally expected to remain at or less than 0.50 inches per hour, but isolated higher rates are possible near thunderstorms.

Slick roadways will add danger to the busier-than-normal streets of Pasadena. Officials urge caution.

Today: Rain likely after 4 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 65. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Tonight: Rain. Low around 48. East southeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%.

Monday: Rain before 10am, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 10am. High near 56. East northeast wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%.

Monday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 45. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming east northeast in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Tuesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 58. Calm wind becoming south southwest around 5 mph in the morning.

Tuesday Night: A 20 percent chance of showers after 10pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 43.

Christmas Day: A 50 percent chance of rain. Partly sunny, with a high near 56.
