Santa Anitas stable area, which has been closed for renovations since mid-July, will reopen on Friday, Sept. 4, with the training track and main track available to horsemen beginning Saturday and Sunday in advance of the tracks 2015 Autumn Meet, which opens on Sept. 26. Additionally, Santa Anitas popular coffee and breakfast destination, Clockers Corner, will be open for business on a seven day-a-week basis beginning Friday morning from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
The 19-day Autumn Meet will open with a bang as a total of five Grade I Breeders Cup Challenge, Win and Youre In prep stakes will be carded on opening day, with first post time for an 11-race program scheduled for 12:30 p.m. (First post time for the remainder of the Autumn Meet will be at 1 p.m.) Santa Anita will offer a total of six Grade I Breeders Cup Challenge races and a total of 21 overall added money events12 of which are graded, throughout the meet.
Santa Anitas stable area, which is home to some 2,000 Thoroughbreds when occupied, has undergone routine repairs and scheduled maintenance. Returning horsemen will see fresh paint, repaired stalls, and improved drainage and access throughout the roughly 40 acres that comprise the stable area.
