Skills Enrichment Program Begins…

Skills Enrichment Program (SEP) began its 24th year at Polytechnic School this summer. More than 200 of PUSD students entering grades 8-12 are on campus to take academic enrichment classes taught by Poly and PUSD teachers, as well as exciting elective options created by the interns, all of whom are graduates of SEP or of Poly.

Skills Enrichment Program is a fast-paced program in which students develop skills that may otherwise diminish from lack of use during the summer. After being chosen to participate as fourth-graders, these students spend eight summers attending SEP partner schools Chandler, Westridge, Mayfield Junior, and Poly, and make lifelong friends on the way. By the time the SEP seniors graduate, they have spent the equivalent of one entire school year in SEP.

The Skills Enrichment Program (SEP) began in 1990 as a way for Polytechnic School to share its resources and expertise with the larger community–specifically, Pasadena’s public school district, students, and families. Since then, SEP has expanded to include Chandler, Mayfield Junior, and Westridge Schools and as an independent collaborative; all four sites work together to host approximately 400 public school students every summer.
