Hundreds of vehicles were on display today as the South Pasadena Tournament of Roses Committee held its 9th annual Cruz’n For Roses Hot Rod and Classic Car Show along Mission Street in the city.
Vendors sold food and automotive supplies as part of the event, which has attracted about 400 custom, classic cars and hot rods.
Ted Shaw, co-chair of the big attraction, estimates that more than $10,000 will be raised by the show to help pay for South Pasadena’s float in the 2014 Tournament of Roses Parade on New Year’s Day.
In addition to the car show, the South Pasadena police and fire departments held their annual open house, featuring safety information, police, canine demonstrations, vendor displays, giveaways and tours of both the police and fire departments
Police officials took free photos and fingerprints of children with parents. The family outing allowed kids to climb into the seat of police cars and motorcycles, see the inner-workings of a fire engine and view a helicopter from ground level.
