Police arrested a 20-year-old man Thursday after they say he stabbed his 14-year-old brother during a dispute at the home they shared in Pasadena.
The alleged attack took place about 10:40 p.m. at a home in the 1100 block of North Raymond Avenue, Pasadena police Lt. Anthony Burgess said.
The older brother stabbed the victim in the arm and hand, he said. The injured boy was hospitalized with injuries not considered to be life-threatening.
Officers arrested the suspect at the scene without struggle, Burgess said.
Victor Manuel Rios was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, according to police and Los Angeles County booking records.
Police seized several knives from the home as evidence, as it was not immediately clear which one was used in the crime, Burgess said.
Family members relayed to police that undiagnosed mental illness may have played a role in the incident, he added.
Bail for Rios was set at $30,000 pending his initial court appearance, records show.
