Fr. Greg Boyle often quotes Mother Teresa: “If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.” In the wake of the Ferguson, Missouri Grand Jury decision not to indict the police officer who killed an unarmed African-American teenager, Fr. Boyle and All Saints Church Pasadena’s rector Ed Bacon will have a wide-ranging conversation about the state of structural racism, the vulnerability of youth of color and the theology of interconnectivity, on Sunday, November 30, at 10:15 a.m. in the Rector’s Forum at All Saints Church.

In 1992, as a response to the civil unrest in Los Angeles, Boyle launched the Homeboy Bakery with a mission to create an environment that provided training, work experience, and above all, the opportunity for rival gang members to work side by side. That groundbreaking work evolved into Homeboy Industries, and established Boyle as a spokesperson for kinship and compassion.

The Rev. Ed Bacon became rector of All Saints Church Pasadena in 1995, has been a regular on Oprah Winfrey’s Soul Series, and is author of 8 Habits of Love: Overcome Fear and Transform Your Life.
