Governor Brown Appoints Pasadena Woman to the University of California Board of Regents

California Governor Jerry Brown has appointed Pasadena lawyer Cecilia V. Estolano as a member of the Board of Regents of the University of California.

Estolano is the co-founder of Los Angeles-based Estolano LeSar Advisors, a consulting firm that specializes in developing strategic solutions that promote vibrant, resilient communities, and has been its CEO since 2011.

She was chief strategist for state and local initiatives at Green for All from 2009 to 2011, Chief Executive Officer at the City of Los Angeles Community Redevelopment Agency from 2006 to 2009, and an adjunct professor at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs from 2006 to 2009 and in 2017.

Estolano was of counsel at Gibson Dunn and Crutcher LLP from 2005 to 2006 and served as special assistant city attorney in the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office from 2001 to 2005. She also served as a senior policy advisor at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency from 1993 to 1995.

Estolano earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law and a Master of Arts degree in urban planning from UCLA.

A statement from Gov. Brown’s office said Estolano’s new position requires Senate confirmation, and that there is no compensation.

Estolano is a Democrat.
