A bomb squad checked out a piece of luggage left on a train platform at the Fillmore Gold Line Station in Pasadena before determined the item posed no threat on Sunday afternoon, officials said.

The suspicious package was first reported about 2 p.m. at the station, 95 Fillmore Street, according to Lt. Robert Doty of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Transit Services Bureau, which provides law enforcement services on the Gold Line route.

Officials cleared the area as a bomb squad from the Sheriff’s Arson-Explosives Detail responded to investigate, he said.

After about an hour, the explosives experts determined the package was “inert” and posed no danger, according to Doty. The train station then resumed normal operation.
