Back to Summertime! Today Through Weekend Predicted to be Sunny, in the 80’s

Santa Ana winds will make a return to the Southland Thursday, bringing the region a taste of warm winter weather but also raising the risk of wildfires with gusty and dry conditions.

Pasadena won’t see much wind but will warm up to 84 today under clear skies and may hit 87 on Friday.

The dry conditions are expected to continue into at least Saturday.

“North to northeast winds will form over Los Angeles and Ventura counties on Thursday and continue through Friday, with dry air descending over the region starting late Thursday afternoon or night,” according to the National Weather Service. 

“Along with persistently dry fuels, this combination of wind and humidity will result in critical fire weather conditions over the valleys and mountains of Los Angeles and Ventura counties Thursday afternoon through Friday afternoon, with a chance of needing to be extended into Saturday. There is also a chance that the coastal areas will need to be added.”

Forecasters said wind gusts are expected to die down Saturday night through Sunday, but they’ll pick up again Monday through Tuesday or Wednesday, “with a growing potential for moderate to strong winds.”

Today: Sunny, with a high near 84. North northeast wind 10 to 15 mph.

Tonight: Clear, with a low around 56. North northeast wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 87. Northeast wind 10 to 15 mph becoming north northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.

Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 56. North northeast wind around 10 mph.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 85. North northeast wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 54.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 84.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 53.
