A Pasadena man in his 40’s working at his business early Monday morning suffered a “major injury to his head” after he was assaulted by two robbers, police said.

The victim was in his sporting goods store in the 1600 block of East Washington at 1:30 a.m. when he heard banging on the store’s rear door, according to Pasadena police Lt. Sean Dawkins.

When he went to investigate, the victim found the door had been forced open and was jumped by two masked robbers. One had a handgun.

Struggling, the victim was dragged outside where he was struck on the head and fell to the ground, Dawkins said.

“They demanded his money as the victim was held down at gunpoint,” Dawkins said.

One of the robbers went into the store and came out a short time later. Both men got into a dark-colored car and drove west on Washington Boulevard, then turned south on Sierra Bonita, according to Dawkins.

No loss from the robbery had been reported as of 6 a.m.

Dawkins said the man was transported by paramedics to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.
