The city of Pasadena announced a $10,000 reward on Wednesday for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the tragic murder of 13-year-old Iran Moreno.

Moreno was fatally struck by a stray bullet on Saturday while playing video games inside his home on North Raymond Avenue.

“Pasadena Police Department Homicide Detectives are working diligently to follow-up on all investigative leads during their criminal investigations and the public play a pivotal role in the investigative process,” according to a statement released on Wednesday. “Information gathered from the public during previous investigations has proven to be instrumental in helping law enforcement bring those responsible to justice on behalf of all victims.”

About 200 people attended a vigil for the slain youth on Monday.

No one in this city has the right to say to young people in our community, that you have to stay home, that you can’t go out into the park and into the community,” said Mayor Victor Gordo. “All of those people should face the consequences of the law. All of those people should face the consequences of being outside of the law.”

Councilmember John Kennedy implored the shooter to surrender for police.

“Turn yourself in,” said Councilmember John Kennedy. “To anyone who was with him, turn yourself in. To anyone who knows who he is, turn him in. It does not matter if this man, presumably a man is Black, brown or white. It does not matter if he is in a gang, or a lone wolf. It does matter if he is young or old, turn him in. As diverse peoples in diverse communities, we must stand up and stand together. Justice must be done. It is up to us to speak out and not remain silent. If you know something, say something. Turn him in and end this madness.”

The increase in violence began in late October when six shootings left four people hurt and one man dead. Jamal Dion Patterson died after he was fatally shot in the 1000 block of Summit Avenue.

Earlier this month, someone opened fire on the Boys & Girls Club on Fair Oaks Avenue while kids were inside playing. No one was injured.
