A 21-year old Pasadena man accused of killing two men and wounding another person in a shooting one year ago will return to court for a preliminary hearing on Jan. 4, a court official told Pasadena Now on Thursday.

According to prosecutors Christopher Paul Hall fatally shot Pasadena residents Christino Medellin Avila, 51, and Aaron Perez Flores, 40, were killed on Dec. 1 near Villa Parke.

Avila died at the scene. Flores was rushed to the hospital where he died a short time later.

Police later arrested Christopher Paul Hall. Hall faces two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder in connection with the shooting, which occurred in the Northeast portion of the park.

The three victims were sitting on a park bench when the shooting began according to police.

The shooters fled the scene in a dark colored sedan, police said at the time.

After the shooting, it took police nearly six months to arrest Hall, who was arrested with the help of a U.S. Marshals fugitive task force on May 20.

Hall’s twin brother Christian, was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a man and his dog in Monrovia.

A co-defendant in that fatal shooting,  Pasadena resident Tanaj Johnson, 22, is due back in court for a preliminary hearing on another case — the 2020 Valentine’s Day shooting that seriously injured a 10-year-old boy who was playing in his front yard near the park.

Police said the boy was not the target in the shooting.
