Threat Prompts Police Presence at Pasadena High School

An anonymous threat of violence increased the presence of police at Pasadena High School for today and tomorrow.

The threat came in the form of a note, which did not specify who might commit the act and the writer appeared to be reporting the threat as secondhand information, Pasadena Unified School District spokesman Adam Wolfson told the Pasadena Sun.

Pasadena police Lt. John Dewar told the Pasadena Sun that the note mentioned “some kind of possible violence on Friday.”

A pre-recorded telephone and email message was sent out Wednesday to parents saying “an anonymous note informing [Pasadena High School] administration about a threat of violence was recently found on campus,” the newspaper reported.

Dewar told the Pasadena Sun that police and school officials are “giving special attention to the matter,” by deploying extra officers on campus, adding that he does not “think there’s been anything to substantiate [the threat] at this point.”

Wolfson told the newspaper that Pasadena High is expected to stay open the remainder of the week.

Wednesday’s message sent out to parents urged anyone with any information about the threat to call Pasadena High officials or report it anonymously to (800) 78-CRIME.
