Assembly Majority Floor Leader Chris Holden will kick off the Young Legislators Program at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena on Saturday, January 16, 2016, with twelve participating high school students from the 41st Assembly District.
Under the six-month long Young Legislators Program, students are provided an opportunity to learn about the legislative process, services provided to constituents by elected leaders, and the relationship between local and state governments.
The program is an avenue for participating students to gain valuable leadership experience and to learn how to impact their community.
The twelve students participating are from Pasadena, Sierra Madre, Monrovia, San Dimas, and Claremont. The students are high school seniors with at least a 2.5 unweighted GPA or higher. Applicants for this year’s program were selected after a November deadline last year.
Aside from Assemblyman Holden, Dr. Raphael Sonenshein, Executive Director of the Pat Brown Institute for Public Affairs, will be speaking at the kick-off event which starts at 9:00 a.m. inside Conference Room B of the Rose Bowl.
