The Pasadena Library will host a special event on Saturday, March 16 that will feature women from the Pasadena Police Department sharing their experiences and insights into law enforcement.
“Behind the Blue – A Candid Conversation Celebrating Women in Law Enforcement,” to be held in honor of Women’s History Month, will be at the Hill Avenue Branch Library.
The event aims to illuminate the unique challenges and strengths that women bring to the field of law enforcement. Attendees will hear compelling narratives from female officers and employees, gaining a deeper understanding of the challenges they face in their profession.
The Pasadena Police Department said it is committed to diversity and inclusivity, with approximately 41% of the current staff identifying as a minority population. The Department’s recent efforts to promote gender diversity are evident in the inclusion of seven female officers in the last two police academies.
The Department also values public feedback and has established avenues for both commendations and complaints regarding employee conduct.
In addition to celebrating Women’s History Month, the event also highlights the valuable role women play in law enforcement and provides a platform for sharing stories and experiences within the Pasadena Police Department.
The Department offers mentorship opportunities for female officers through various programs. These initiatives aim to build confidence, leadership, and teamwork skills in youth by interacting with public safety personnel.
