Clairbourn Students at the Thanksgiving Food Drive

Published on Monday, December 2, 2013 | 12:10 pm

Clairbourn School knows that a child’s education goes beyond the classroom—to be socially active and have a respect for others is just as important as reading and writing.

Mindful of this, eighth-graders were busy Monday, November 25, working at the Foothill Unity Center’s Thanksgiving Food Distribution event.

Foothill Unity Center’s mission is to help “neighbors in crisis attain self-sufficiency by partnering with the community and using our resources wisely to provide vital support services with love and dignity.” The Center invites hundreds of community volunteers each year to come together and help prepare and distribute food boxes and holiday toys for those in need.

The Clairbourn students departed the school Monday around 8:40 a.m. to head to The Foothill Unity Center in Ayers Hall/The Arboretum, Arcadia. There, they made sure that everyone was warmly greeted, assisted families in going through food pick-up lines, and finally, helped load the donated food items into cars.

By 12:15 p.m., the students returned to the campus with full hearts and enriched spirits.

Clairbourn School was founded in 1926 and has been serving families in the Pasadena area and surrounding cities seeking an excellent private school education. Clairbourn teaches basic human values and is universal in its approach to teaching children of many cultures and religions.
