Community College Chancellor Deliver Address, Holds Town Hall at PCC Today

Published on Thursday, March 22, 2012 | 5:13 am

California Community Colleges Chancellor Jack Scott is delivered a “State of the State” report and conducted a town hall meeting Thursday in the Pasadena City College Sexson Auditorium.

A former PCC president, Scott will be speaking about the state of community colleges and what measures can be taken to overcome the current and coming challenges.

Scott will be taking questions from PCC students, faculty, staff, and members of the community regarding the budget cuts – an opportunity likely to be taken by students activists upset with class cuts and grievances over the College’s handling of those cuts.

Scott will also be expected to tackle the impact of the budget cuts on districts statewide and the measures he is urging individual districts to take.

He will also share his personal perspective on the importance of the Student Success Task Force recommendations that are currently being considered by the California State Legislature.

Many PCC students have expressed their dissent regarding the budget cuts, with 94 PCC students even joining the protests against budget cuts and tuition fee hikes in education held last March 5 in Sacramento.
