Cooler Temps on the Way for the Weekend

Sweltering temperatures return to Pasadena on Wednesday, with a forecast high of 97 degrees, but relief is coming.

The high is expected to drop to 89 degrees on Thursday, 77 on Friday, and 75 on Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters urged people to limit outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day, drink plenty of fluids while avoiding coffee and alcohol, dress in light, loose-fitting clothing, and never leave children, seniors or pets in hot parked cars.

If Pasadena isn’t hot enough for you, head to Lancaster or Woodland Hills for temps topping 100 degrees. L.A. County beaches are expected to be in the upper 70s.

Today: Sunny, with a high near 89. Light south wind becoming south southwest 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 15 mph.

Tonight: Patchy fog after midnight. Otherwise, increasing clouds, with a low around 60. South wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Friday: Patchy fog before noon. Otherwise, cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 76. South wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.

Friday Night: A 20 percent chance of rain after midnight. Increasing clouds, with a low around 58. South wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.

Saturday: A 20 percent chance of rain before noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 75. South southwest wind around 5 mph.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 56.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 78.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 85.
