As Thanksgiving Week edged ever closer to Thursday, Pasadena Councilmember Tyron Hampton got into the act of giving on Tuesday.  Hampton joined local volunteers and members of the nonprofit Miracle on 1st Street to hand out turkeys and produce to pre-registered local families at the La Pintoresca Park Teen Center.

According to Miracle on 1st organizer and Pasadena resident Priscilla Hernandez, the event was the seventh annual teaming of the group along with the teen center, to assist with distributing meals.

Miracle on 1st Street’s website says it is in its fourth decade of service with the mission of providing assistance to at-risk inner-city young people during the holiday season; bringing smiles to children’s faces.

“We believe every child deserves a Christmas Miracle to brighten their spirits and create memories in their hearts,” the group says.

Pasadena Recreation Services Specialist Ty Snow also dressed up as the season’s favorite bird, to entertain and help deliver the meals to the long line of families in their cars.

Asked for his thoughts on the season, Councilmember Hampton offered his own advice: “Eat as many pies as you possibly can, enjoy the holidays, kick it with your friends and your family, and just share love. In everything you do in this world, you should share love.”
