An elderly woman died after she was struck by a vehicle while crossing Allen Avenue in Pasadena on Tuesday morning, officials said.

The collision was first reported at 8:07 a.m. along Allen Avenue at Las Lunas Street, police said.

Paramedics pronounced the pedestrian, initially described as a woman in her 80s, dead at the scene, according to Lt. Anthony Russo.

Investigators determined the woman had been walking east across Allen Avenue in an unmarked crosswalk at the north end of the intersection with Las Lunas Street when she was struck by a small SUV headed north in the No. 1 traffic lane, Russo said.

The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and cooperated with police, Russo said. She was described as a Pasadena woman in her 50s.

The victim’s identity was not released pending positive identification and notification of family by coroner’s officials.

No further details were available.

Anyone witnesses, or anyone with information, can reach the Pasadena Police Department at (626) 744-4501.
